I am a certified doula CD(CBI) and have also trained with DONA international as a Birth Doula. I have been working as a doula since 2007, and have attended more than sixty births as a doula.

My extensive experience as a doula includes supporting births at home, in every hospital in Amsterdam as well as the BevalCentrum West.  I have experience with a broad range of birth experiences including: breech babies, waterbirth, premature babies, C-sections, VBAC's, inductions, medicated and natural birth, single mothers, and supporting families who wish to have older children and other family members present at the birth. 

I work closely with pregnancy specialised acupuncturist Jacky Bloemraad-de Boer, interning in her practice has expanded the services I can offer my doula clients.

I am bilingual English/Dutch and support international families as well as Dutch families.

I attend workshops regularly to stay current and improve my skills.  I have attended workshops with Debra Pascali-Bonaro (doula), Barbara Harper (waterbirth, gentle birth), Jacky Bloemraad-de Boer (acupressure, reflexology, polarity), Verena Schmid (midwife; birth physiology and tools for difficult labours), Heather Bruce (acupuncturist and naturopath; massage, acupressure, Bach remedies, vibrational tools), Sabina Arevalo (mexican rebozo techniques) and Denish Walsh (Evidence based care for labour and birth).

I am a Canadian, who has lived in Amsterdam for 10 years. Prior to becoming a doula I was a theatre producer and the director of development for an international theatre association. I am the mother of two sons Nathaniel (10) born in hospital, and Samuel (8) born at home in water. My family life also includes a very supportive partner and his children Jascha (10) and Samuel (15).
